Our Strategy For Spiritual Growth: Experience, Excel, Express

Since our mission at Bridgeway Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, we have a very simple strategy to do so. Our desire is to help people experience God, excel in spiritual growth, and express his love to the world. Each of our ministries falls into one of these purposeful steps.

Experience God

Our Sunday morning worship services are designed to help people to experience God through music and an engaging biblical sermon.

For each of us, our spiritual journey begins with our personal experience with Jesus Christ. Our personal relationship with Christ begins when we respond to his love by placing our faith in him. As we turn away from our sins and give our lives to Christ, we receive forgiveness and experience his life-changing power in our hearts.

Christians through history have often described this experience as being “born again” or a “new creation”. It is at this point that we become God’s children and heirs of eternal life. This however is only the beginning of our journey as followers of Christ.

Excel in spiritual growth

Community Groups are the heart of our discipleship process at Bridgeway Church. These groups meet at various times and locations throughout the week. There are groups for youth, young adults, adults, and newcomers. While each group has a unique focus, all are designed to help you grow in your relationship with God and community with other believers. Since spiritual growth takes place best in the context of relationships, they serve as our primary ministry for discipleship.

After we enter into a personal relationship with Jesus we begin a new life with him. Just as a baby then grows and develops, we must also grow and develop as Christ’s followers. This means becoming increasingly more and more like Jesus in our thoughts, words, actions, and lifestyle.

Express His love to the world

The final stage of our discipleship process is to express God’s love through ministry and service. The best way to engage in ministry is to join a ministry team and help with outreach events. There are many ministry teams and opportunities to get involved at bridgeway. Some ministries to join include helping with youth or children’s ministry, becoming a nursery worker, help with the coffee and hospitality ministry, be an usher or greeter, help with building and grounds crew, join the worship team, help with sound, lighting, and video production.

As we grow and develop in our relationship with Christ, we learn that the inevitable result is to share our faith with others. After the disciples had experienced Christ and had begun to grow by listening to his teaching, they were sent out into ministry. Ministry is the inevitable result of experiencing God and growing in him. Living for Christ and fulfilling our purpose in life is the most fulfilling way to live.
